How to watch Champions League in USA: TV channels, free live streams for all matches in 2022/23

There are 32 teams that made it to the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage, but only 16 of them will survive when the groups are settled by Nov. 2.

Each of the eight groups will send the top two finishers to the Champions League knockout rounds in February 2023. The first-place teams will be drawn against second-place teams for that Round of 16 draw on Nov. 7.

The third-place teams in the Champions League group stage get a consolation prize: a spot in the knockout round playoffs of the second-tier Europa League tournament, where they will have to battle Europa League group runners-up for the right to enter that tournament’s Round of 16.

Real Madrid won the Champions League last season and will face stiff competition from the likes of deep-pocketed clubs like Manchester City, PSG, and Chelsea. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Juventus hope they’ve done enough to reinforce their squads during the summer to make a run for the title.

Five matchdays down, one to go, with four knockout berths still up for grabs and plenty to be decided.

Last week, the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Borussia Dortmund officially joined the teams advancing to the knockout stage. Meanwhile, the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus were eliminated from contention and will now look to secure humbling places in the Europa League playoffs instead by locking up third place.

One group, which features Tottenham, Marseille, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Sporting CP remains completely up for grabs, with every team both in contention to finish first and also possibly end up in last.
