Right-hander Kodai Senga has submitted paperwork to become an international free agent, according to Jason Coskrey of The Japan Times.
Senga is expected to generate interest from MLB clubs after posting a 1.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 156 strikeouts over 144 innings during the 2022 campaign with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
The 29-year-old won’t have to be posted since he’s amassed enough service time to test free agency.
Senga has played for Fukuoka since debuting at age 19 in 2012.
