Jacoby Brissett had a lot of fun during the Browns’ 32-13 thrashing of the Bengals on “Monday Night Football.”
And it was evident that he was enjoying himself while trying to draw the Bengals offside late in the win.
There was 5:43 left in the game when Brissett and the Browns came onto the field facing a fourth-and-4 from the Bengals’ 40-yard line. Cleveland appeared to have no intention of going for it. However, the team hoped it could draw Cincinnati offside to get a cheap first down that would help it further run out the clock.

The Browns weren’t successful, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Brissett did everything in his power to get the Bengals to jump. That included calling out Cincinnati linebacker Logan Wilson during the play.
“I almost got you 55,” Brissett was caught saying on a hot mic, before adding, “Come blitz!”

Of course, Brissett hadn’t almost gotten Wilson to do anything. The veteran linebacker remained stationed in the middle of the field until Brissett mentioned his number. Once that happened, he pointed to himself, seemingly in a state of disbelief.

Wilson left the field with a perturbed look on his face after the play. So, while Brissett hadn’t gotten the Bengals to jump offside, he did leave them a bit bewildered by his pre-snap antics.
Brissett’s comical call-out was part of one of his best games in a Browns uniform. He was laser-focused and accurate throughout the night, completing 17 of 22 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. He also scrambled for 12 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
It seems that Brissett has fully settled into the Browns’ lineup eight games into the 2022 NFL season. That said, he may not be long for the starting role. Deshaun Watson is due to return from an 11-game suspension in Week 13, so Brissett will likely only have three planned starts remaining this season.

His goal will be to keep the 3-5 Browns within striking distance of the playoff chase. He will also look to prove that he deserves a chance to compete for a starting job somewhere in 2023.
