English Premier League table 2022/23: Updated EPL standings and race for title, Champions League places, and relegation survival

Manchester City are back at the top of the Premier League table after a dramatic victory at the Etihad over Fulham. Erling Haaland scored the game-winner on a 95th-minute penalty after City went down to 10 men with an hour left in the match.

Arsenal, one point back, can regain the top spot with a win at Chelsea on Sunday. Tottenham (vs. Liverpool), Newcastle (at Southampton), and Manchester United (at Aston Villa) are looking for points to stay in the title hunt.

Brighton followed up their win over Chelsea with a road victory at Wolves, thus maintaining their top-10 standing.

Leeds scored the biggest result at the bottom of the table with a come-from-behind 4-3 home victory over Bournemouth after they were 3-1 down. Southampton and Aston Villa hope they can replicate those heroics on Sunday against more threatening opposition.

Below is the full Premier League table followed by a snapshot of each race.

Premier League title race

Manchester City have once again reclaimed the lead on a Saturday and they’ll wait to see if this weekend Arsenal will once again have what it takes to reply on Sunday with a win of their own.

We’ll see which of Tottenham and Newcastle can stay close to the top two, who look like the most likely to challenge for the title though Man City manager Pep Guardiola cited up to five teams in a recent interview.

Champions League places & European places

The names that are the biggest surprises in the race for European places are Newcastle (4th) and Brighton (6th) as they continue their push up the table. Brighton are doing it under a new manager, Roberto De Zerbi, after Graham Potter moved to Chelsea.

While Manchester United look like they have what it takes to make a top-four push, Liverpool have ground to make up in 9th place.

Premier League relegation

It’s a jam of teams at the bottom of the Premier League with eight teams within four points of each other.

The pressure to avoid the drop has already seen new managers taking over at Aston Villa (Unai Emery) and Bournemouth (Gary O’Neil – interim), with Julen Lopetegui assuming the reins at Wolves during the World Cup break.

Nottingham Forest have kept faith with Steve Cooper and Leicester are still backing Brendan Rodgers as they seek to extricate themselves from the bottom three. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s job security at Southampton has been called into question in the media as the Saints once again hover in the relegation zone.
