Erling Haaland was withdrawn at halftime of Manchester City’s road Champions League match at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, October 25 and the issue has proven more serious than initially believed on the night.
While nothing appeared awry during play, it was revealed after the match that Haaland had suffered an injury against his former club, leading to his withdrawal.
Haaland, who has bagged 17 goals in his first 11 Premier League matches, is gunning for the single-season Premier League goalscoring record, and any missed time could cut into his chances at adding to that total.
Now that he’s missed his first Premier League match, fans are wondering how long the Norwegian superstar will be sidelined, and when he might return to the field.

Erling Haaland injury news
In the immediate aftermath of the Borussia Dortmund game, the news around Haaland’s injury was positive. It was described by Pep Guardiola in his post-match press conference as a “knock,” saying that Haaland was withdrawn due to a combination of the injury and the fact that he was also dealing with a “fever.”
That made it sound like Haaland wouldn’t miss much time, if any at all. However, he was held out of the October 29 Premier League match against Leicester City, which Man City won 1-0 behind a free-kick goal from Kevin de Bruyne.
But Haaland has yet to heal despite the weekend break. Guardiola revealed the day after the Leicester City match that Haaland was dealing with a foot ligament injury that was somewhat more serious than initially believed.
Guardiola confirmed that Haaland will miss the Champions League game against Sevilla on Wednesday, November 2, and his status for the weekend Premier League match against Fulham is in doubt.
Haaland was caught on video limping noticeably as he walked into a medical clinic on Sunday, casting further doubt on his recovery time.

When will Erling Haaland return from injury?
Guardiola was asked about Haaland’s injury and the extent to which it might keep him sidelined.
“He has ligament damage,” Guardiola said in the wake of the win over Leicester City. “He feels better, we have one more week. He won’t play against Sevilla, because we have already qualified and hopefully against Fulham he can help us. If not, he might play against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.”
The match against Fulham was set to pit Haaland against Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is third in the Premier League goalscoring chart.
On Tuesday, October 1, Guardiola confirmed Haaland would definitely sit out their Champions League encounter but is hoping he’ll be recovered in time for Fulham at the weekend.
“He feels better. Comparing to Saturday, Sunday, Monday, every day feels better,” he said. “Still not 100%, we don’t want to take a risk. Hopefully we have him against Fulham.”
If he doesn’t return against Fulham then his comeback will most likely come on Wednesday, November 9 against Chelsea in the EFL Cup.
City were drawn against the Blues in the third round of the competition, an early heavyweight battle in the domestic cup tournament.

Should FPL managers start Haaland in Gameweek 15?
It’s still a fluid situation as to whether Erling Haaland plays for Manchester City against Fulham on Saturday, November 5.
However, judging by Pep Guardiola’s comments, where he said Haaland “can help us” against Fulham, it feels doubtful that he would start in the match, perhaps coming off the bench if available.
At this point, more information is needed to make a definitive determination on whether to start or sit Haaland in Fantasy Premier League. However, it feels at this point like FPL managers should at the very least choose a different captain and vice-captain, or even pull him entirely.
