Manchester City vs Fulham: Live stream, TV channel, odds and result prediction as top scorers face off

Sitting two points from the summit of the Premier League, defending champions Manchester City can go top of the table with a win over Fulham on Saturday.

That stay may be short-lived, however, as league leaders Arsenal can retake that lead the following day when the Gunners travel to face Chelsea in a London derby.

Pep Guardiola’s City squad has lost just two of 19 competitive matches played so far this season and both came against Liverpool. They’ve looked as strong as ever with the emergence of summer signing Erling Haaland, who has sat out the last two matches with a foot injury. But the Norwegian marksman has returned to training this week and it remains to be seen whether he’ll play a part against Fulham.

The visiting Cottagers are in seventh place after a surprisingly strong 5W-4L-4D start to their campaign, and only five other Premier League clubs have scored more goals thus far. Forward Aleksandar Mitrovic has nine of Fulham’s 22 goals, ranking him in third place in the league’s top scorer rankings led by Haaland. Manager Marco Silva has promised the visitors will come out on the attack.

Man City vs. Fulham lineups

Will Haaland play against Fulham? That’s the big question in the lead-up though it’s hard to see him making more than a cameo after two days of training and a spell of 10 days on the sidelines with a foot injury.

Guardiola kept his team fresh in midweek, resting several regulars for the Champions League win over Sevilla, and the Citizens are also boosted by the return of defender Manuel Akanji. But Kalvin Phillips (out 11 matches since Sept. 14), and Kyle Walker (out nine matches since Oct. 2) have been out for several weeks with shoulder and groin injuries, respectively.

Man City projected starting lineup (4-3-3, right to left): 31-Ederson (GK) — 5-John Stones, 3-Ruben Dias, 6-Nathan Ake, 7-Joao Cancelo — 17-Kevin De Bruyne, 16-Rodri, 20-Bernardo Silva — 47-Phil Foden, 19-Julian Alvarez, 10-Jack Grealish

Man City projected subs: 18-Stefan Ortega (GK), 33-Scott Carson (GK), 97-Josh Wilson-Esbrand, 82-Rico Lewis, 25-Manuel Akanji, 14-Aymeric Laporte, 21-Sergio Gomez, 8-Ilkay Gundogan, 80-Cole Palmer, 26-Riyad Mahrez, 9-Erling Haaland

Fulham suffered a major injury blow as winger Neeskens Kebano succumbed to an Achilles injury in training and will be sidelined for months. It’ll be Daniel James or Harry Wilson to replace him, with James likely to fill the role of attacking spark off the bench.

Right-back Bobby Reid is suspended for yellow card accumulation, and Manor Solomon is also out long-term, but manager Marco Silva has Layvin Kurzawa back in training after a calf injury.

Fulham projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): 17-Bernd Leno (GK) — 27-Kevin Mbabu, 31-Issa Diop, 13-Tim Ream, 33-Antonee Robinson — 6-Harrison Reed, 26-Joao Palhinha — 8-Harry Wilson, 18-Andreas Pereira, 20-Willian — 9-Aleksandar Mitrovic

Fulham projected subs: 1-Marek Rodak (GK), 2-Kenny Tete, 3-Layvin Kurzawa, 31-Issa Diop, 4-Tosin Adarabioyo, 5-Shane Duffy, 38-Luke Bernard Harris, 25-Josh Onomah, 10-Tom Cairney, 21-Daniel James, 30-Carlos Vinicius

Man City vs. Fulham odds, prediction

With Manchester City such heavy home favorites and plenty of goals expected in the match based on the odds, it’s tough finding an attractive enough betting angle on this game. Even Man City forward Julian Alvarez to score a goal is given as a foregone conclusion as a -165 anytime scorer.

Fulham have conceded plenty of goals on their travels thus far in 2022/23 with 13 allowed in just seven away matches across all competitions. That’s nearly a clip of two goals per game as the defensive side of the ball continues to be their Achilles’ heel despite two shutouts against Wolves and Everton. Man City is several rungs above those teams and there’s every chance they can score in each half.

  • Pick: Manchester City to win both halves (-115 )
  • Prediction: Manchester City 3, Fulham 0
